PREVIEW OF THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY'S FOURTH DREAM UP FESTIVAL

From August 18 to September 8, 2013 Theater for the New City (TNC), under the direction of Crystal Field, Artistic Director, will present its fourth "Dream Up Festival," a festival of experimental theater featuring new works from across the country and abroad. The theater's Literary Manager, Michael Scott-Price continues as curator.

With its Dream Up Festival, Theater for the New City (TNC) opens itself up to theater from the country at large and to artists from overseas. Its founders, Crystal Field and Michael Scott-Price, feel this is especially needed now in a time of declining donations to the arts, grants not being awarded due to market conditions, and arts funding cuts on almost every level all across the country and abroad.

WAITING AT TIMES SQUARE: A FUNDRAISING EVENT

Those who didn’t have the chance to come to Times Square last week might be curious about what we had done that day. In front of TKTS, we manifested “waiting” in our own ways. Some passers-by hustled, while many others stopped, observed, conversed with the director, or interacted with the mannequin! Waiting has been regarded a passive subconscious behavior, and therefore tends to be ignore. When you happen to observe and engage in waiting, you will get to reflect on things that you never ever thought about. 1000 waitings indicate 1000 consciousness. What would you do, would you ponder, while waiting? Have you ever experienced being told “a moment,” and it turned out to be “endless future,” or, that what you have expected was an elephant, but there flew a bird to you? SHARE YOUR STORIES WITH US!
